I’m that annoying person at parties who gets drunk and starts having in-depth discussions about how to change the world. I commonly question accepted realities of society, wondering why they are and if they should change. In questioning every day life, I hope to instigate my readers to think more critically about their everyday lives.
- Why do we joke about sleeping on the couch during a lover’s quarrel?
- Why is it so hard to make new friends as an adult?
- Do we realize we raise young girls to fear men?
- What is cultural appropriation, anyway?
This tendency to question everything has been a part of my life since my youth. I dive into the anger, depression and confusion of my younger days. Even then, though I was barely a teenager, I questioned everything around me, including my own reactions to the world.
Knowing all this, it should come to no surprise that I studied Journalism – a profession based on asking questions – in college. In addition to my Journalism Major, I majored in International Studies with a focus on human rights and received a Certificate in Peace and Conflict Studies through my study abroad program in Northern Ireland.
My college education fuels more than my career and this blog. Writing is my passion and it characterizes every facet of my life. Scattered throughout this blog, you will find hints of my biggest dream. Nothing would make me happier than to make a living writing novels. I am currently working on my first, with many other novels soon to follow.
